MOUNT KINABALU

Mount Kinabalu (Malay: Gunung Kinabalu) is a prominent mountain on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. It is located in the east Malaysian state of Sabah and is protected as Kinabalu National Park, a World Heritage Site. Kinabalu is the tallest peak in Borneo's Crocker Range and is the fourth tallest mountain in the Malay Archipelago after Papua's Puncak Jaya, Puncak Trikora and Puncak Mandala.[1] Mount Kinabalu is also the 20th tallest mountain in the world by topographic prominence.[2]

REDANG ISLAND

Redang Island, locally known as Pulau Redang or just "Redang" is one of the largest islands off the east coast of Malaysia. It is one of nine islands, which form a marine park, and which offer snorkeling and diving opportunities. Access is from Merang or Kuala Terengganu on boats operated by the resorts; there is also a small airport with services operated by Berjaya Air from Singapore (Seletar Airport) and Kuala Lumpur (Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport).

KUALA LUMPUR

Kuala Lumpur is the capital and the largest city in Malaysia by population.[5] The city proper, making up an area of 243 km2 (94 sq mi), has a population of 1.4 million as of 2010.[4] Greater Kuala Lumpur, also known as the Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.2 million.[6] It is the fastest growing metropolitan region in the country, in terms of population and economy.

KENYIR LAKE

Kenyir Lake is the largest man-made lake in Southeast Asia. Sharing its border with Kelantan in the west and Pahang in the south. This immense lake also serve as another gateway to Taman Negara. The lake covers 260 km² and contains 340 small islands, which were once hiltops and highlands, more than 14 waterfalls, numerous rapids and rivers. Because the lake is a reservoir, the water level can vary depending on the month. The water level is highest (and the lake consequently the most beautiful) in March and April.

MALAYSIA CULTURE

The Culture of Malaysia draws on the varied cultures of the different peoples of Malaysia. The first people to live in the area were indigenous tribes that still remain; they were followed by the Malays, who moved there from mainland Asia in ancient times. Chinese and Indian cultural influences made their mark when trade began with those countries, and increased with immigration to Malaysia. Other cultures that heavily influenced that of Malaysia include Persian, Arabic, and British. The many different ethnicities that currently exist in Malaysia have their own unique and distinctive cultural identities, with some crossover.

Situated in Southeast Asia, Malaysia, with an area of 329,750 sq km (127,317 sq mi), consists of two noncontiguous areas: Peninsular Malaysia (formerly West Malaysia), on the Asian mainland, and the states of Sarawak and Sabah, known together as East Malaysia, on the island of Borneo. Comparatively, the area occupied by Malaysia is slightly larger than the state of New Mexico. Peninsular Malaysia, protruding southward from the mainland of Asia, comprises an area of 131,587 sq km (50,806 sq mi), extending 748 km (465 mi) SSE-NNW and 322 km (200 mi) ENE-WSW . It is bordered on the N by Thailand, on the E by the South China Sea, on the S by the Strait of Johore, and on the W by the Strait of Malacca and the Andaman Sea, with a total boundary length of 2,068 km (1,285 mi). Sarawak, covering an area of 124,449 sq km (48,050 sq mi), on the northwest coast of Borneo, extends 679 km (422 mi) NNE-SSW and 254 km (158 mi) ESE-WNW . It is bounded by Brunei on the N , Sabah on the NE , Indonesia on the E and S, and the South China Sea on the W . Sarawak's total boundary length is 2,621 km (1,629 mi). Situated at the northern end of Borneo, Sabah has an area of 74,398 sq km (28,725 sq mi), with a length of 412 km (256 mi) E-W and a width of 328 km (204 mi)


N – S . To the N is the Balabac Strait, to the NE the Sulu Sea, to the SE the Celebes Sea, to the S Indonesia, to the SW Sarawak, and to the W the South China Sea, with a total boundary length of 2,008 km (1,248 mi). The total boundary length of Malaysia is 7,344 km (4,563 mi), of which 4,675 km (2,905 mi) is coastline.
Malaysia claims several atolls of the Spratly Island group in the South China Sea. The claim, in a region where oil is suspected, is disputed by China, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur, is located in the western part of Peninsular Malaysia.

The eastern state of Terengganu encompasses an area of 13,000 square miles with a population of just under one million residents. There are quite a few interesting islands off the mainland to explore here, such as Perhentian island kapas island and Redang island. Visitors to Terengganu also have a variety of sights and activities to enjoy such as snorkelling, taking in lazy and beautiful beaches, jungle trekking and of course setting about the main city of Kuala Terengganu.
Historically, Terengganu was officially recognised as a Malay state in 1724 prior to which it was a solo trading region. In the 1900’s it was taken over by the British until 1948 when it rejoined as a state of Malaysia.
Things To See & Do In Terengganu
The city of Kuala Terengganu has a fair bit to interest tourists – there are the usual night markets that are to be found in practically all Malaysian settlements. There’s also a well developed Chinatown that has some good oriental restaurants, not to mention some interesting buildings – the Zainal Abidin Mosque has some interesting architecture to it. Also worthy of note within the capital of Terengganu is Princess Hill which offers some excellent vistas of the region. You can also catch an interesting cultural show at the cultural theatre.


Nearby the city, the Kompleks Museum Negeri is one of the largest in Malaysia and holds thousands of superb artefacts and exhibitions – for natural beauty, the  cemeroh waterfalls,Tembakah waterfalls ,Kenyir Lake and Sekayu water Falls are closeby to Terengganu.
Good beaches are not difficult to find in the region – Rantau Abang, Dungun and Paka are among the best.


There are also some picturesque, traditional fishing villages in the area – Batu Rakit lies north of the main city and there is a good array of eateries as well as a nice beach here. Alternatively, Merang is another though not quite as eye catching to the tourist.
There are a couple of small islands that are off the main coast of Terengganu – most notably  Lang Tengah island and Perhentian island, both of which can be reached by a fairly quick boat ride. Both islands offer hotels and accommodation should you wish to stay here.
